PASSIVE VOICE

Liliana esta es la explicación de PASSIVE VOICE


Escribir una frase en voz pasiva es muy simple.
Se deben seguir los siguientes pasos.

1- El complemento directo pasa a ser sujeto.
2- Se escribe el verbo to be en el mismo tiempo que el verbo activo.
3- El verbo activo se escribe en participio pasado (tercera columna en los verbos irregulares y ED en los regulares)
4- El sujeto pasa a ser complemento agente

Ejemplo
My brother broke a vase yesterday.

A vase was broken by my brother yesterday
Algunas aclaraciones
El complemento agente sólo se escribe si es bien concreto.

by me/you/him/her/it/us/them

He writes a letter every day
A letter is written every day.

People watched this programme last night.
This programme was watched last nigth.

Frases con dos complementos

En estos casos se realizan dos pasivas siendo siempre mas importante el complemento indirecto.

The doctor gave a report to him last week.
He was given a report by the doctor yesterday.
A report was given to him by the doctor yesterday.

Frases en distintos tiempos verbales

Pupils study math every week
Math is studied by pupils every week.

He is looking after his cat.
His cat is being looked after.

My boss didn’t write the invoice.
The invoice wasn’t written by my boss.

Janet was reading several magazines yesterday.
Several magazines were read by Margaret yesterday.

His cat has stolen some fish.
Some fish has been stolen by his cat.

They have repaired the new camera.
The new camera has been repaired.

Paul is going to paint his room.
His room is going to be painted by Paul.

Someboy will close the window.
The window will be closed,

That dog can drink milk.
Milk can be drunk by that dog.

Preguntas en pasiva
Does Harry repair the roof?
Is the roof repaired by Harry?

What did your mother make for dinner?
What was made for dinner by your mother?

Who bought the present?
Who was the present bought by?

Frases con verbos modales
Si se pasa una frase de activa a pasiva donde aparecen verbos modales, el modal no se modifica y a continuación se escribe BE y el verbo principal en participio.

Paul can write a tale.
A tale can be written by Paul.

My mother has to clean the house.
The house has to be cleaned by my mother

Se
Cuando en Inglés se quiere utilizar la palabra se, ( como reflejo) utilizamos la voz pasiva.
Ejemplos
Este ordenador se usa todos los días.
This computer is used every day.

Se dice que los nuevos alumnos son mejores que los viejos.
It is said that the new pupils are better than the old ones.

Las instalaciones se controlaban dos veces al año
The facilities were checked twice a year.
